DEMYSTIFYING TANTRA

by David Hauser

If Tantra was an energy drink, it would be like taking a sip of bliss infused with phenomena and a dash of metamorphosis. Tantra is a metaphysical treatise experienced when we lose our identities through spiritual practice and rituals. Its result is a glance in-between the folds of time/space, substance, and non-substance, in a flash sublimely overwhelming awareness’s view with epiphany and awe. Tantra is that swirling energy spontaneously engulfing our higher identity, directed by a non-dualistic state of awareness. The mission of Tantra is to allow our awareness a symbiotic view of essence and perfect a pathway into emptiness' nectar. It’s not as if we have power over energy or its effect, it’s just that when we sit in an expanded view saturated in compassion, a miraculous cessation of separateness floods in.

A major impediment that has kept us away from this inherent symbiosis with Tantra’s very refined energy is a chattering mind. The mind is a super salesperson attempting to pawn off a bill of goods to awareness, one right after the other until a deal is made. The mind is so clever that it would like you to believe that it’s in the driver's seat steering the course of your life. Tantra’s crested unfurling is the moment when absolute commonsense casts away the clouds created by the mind to see truth clearly. This clarity sees causation and cessation, existence and non-existence in an endless sea of consciousness where awareness resides as part and participle. This is a daunting task to the untrained mind and a reason to seek training from a teacher with a lineage behind them. Once trained in the lessons of Tantra, awareness learns to navigate the mind's treacherous waters to embrace our divine nature. Tantra’s mystic teachings, unexplainable in words, interpreted through direct contact with transcendental subtle energies, thwarts our chattering minds with stillness and awakening.

Relinquishing ego or self-nature (complete surrender) is a rarely attainable goal. It can’t be manipulated or even instructed. Only a straightforward innate plunge into surrendered identity and self-less compassion, abdicating the illusion of will, can embrace such phenomena. Tantra in this regard is experienced in greater or lesser degrees as an intrinsic function of our higher awareness when we don the rainbow body. It is essentially identifiable and substantially realized when awareness swoons in the elixir of emptiness to inadvertently dance among divinity. A sweet sip of a substance that causes a sense of ritualistic inebriation, intoxicated by a cosmic pulse of another kind of essence and pure, self-nature. This is where virtue and convictions without predestined cause take over our mortal awareness. To deny the conventional reality of phenomena is to deny the metaphysical realism that takes us on a journey of fractal impossibilities. Crossing the line between allowing our minds to believe that it’s in the driver's seat can allow us to slip through the structure of physical reality.

Causation exists only because phenomenal things (things we experience) exist by conventions that are not things unto themselves. (Buddhist Teacher Nāgārjuna). We cannot be convinced by the mind that this physical reality is the only way to explain existence, so, the Tantric experience is a vehicle to explain the unexplainable. How does one define spiritual energy and the cause and effect it has? How does one assert that linear manifestation is an empirical measurement of time? Tantric experience is an affirmation of our transcendental nature and our symbiotic adhesion to consciousness itself. Our essence is not a thing. It's not planted in the material universe and even though the mind would argue and attempt to persuade us otherwise, no such assumptions can be correct. We will never have any true understanding of our location or destination or even where fundamentally consciousness or our 'self' resides. But, by experience, we have a collective understanding of atonement that when our hearts are set free we get a true taste of epiphany’s magic. This is the Tantric experience magnetically charged to discover truth in all its facets without effort and consequently our connection with our divine selves.

We’re spiritual instruments sending off metaphysical melodic themes into material existence beyond the veils of our conscious minds. That musical precision-tuned to our higher selves signaling like quasars beaming in all directions. Unleashing spiritual perfection effortlessly for those tuned to its higher frequency experiencing its unceasing message. Every song is played best when musicians let go and allow their inner voice to speak. Feelings transcends language. Similarly, Tantra exists outside the constructs of normal communication. Tantra is that profound interruption of reality, elucidated in sacred unspoken mantras, a vehicle of liberation divinely revealed in a timeless split second. Non-verbal communication is 90% of our ability to interact and when you reach the hem of Tantra you realize that it’s 100%.

It is our spiritual expansion and transcendental understanding that the manifestation of the material universe is composed of divine energy - a symbiotic ritualistic dance with our own divinity, channeling its precious nature and causality into this material universe through altruistic acts of compassion. Tantra warps time/ space, stretching reality, weaving in-between the vast emptiness, and unfurling the Vedic flowers of cosmic principles. When we perceive its mystic sounds and attain spiritual ascension, the light of knowledge spreads out systematically. Esotericism then wanes and we are embraced by the fabric of pure essence as pain and struggle are suspended. Spiritual aspirations are fulfilled, attachments dissolve and truth replaces uncertainty.

Micro-macrocosms Tantra’s expressions sublimate reality with a vibrancy that cleanses our souls like clean, clear, crisp pure water. Tantra is more than unbridled sacred sex as the western perception and a deeper understanding of Tantra can take a lifetime. This study and discipline are not for thrill-seekers but for those who are sincere in the divine spiritual information Tantra offers. It's not as distant from our daily lives as it is perceived to be i.e. intuition, instinct, premonitions, and coincidence are all quotidian indicators of Tantra. Even telecommunications that summon the collective, connects our anomalous synchronicity to extraordinary levels of extrasensory contact. Tantra, after all, is that point of spiritual singularity at the intersection of what makes us human and divine. Seemingly random we benefit from an inkling that ripples along the edges of the aggregate whole and revelations are discovered at the end of the rainbow of our collective experience. This is Tantra when creative energy sparks an adventure into the sublime unknown.
